Now Hiring – USA Development Director

Light Up Hope seeks a full-time passionate and growth oriented Development Director to head our ongoing fundraising needs. Reporting to the President and will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer to shape and implement an effective fundraising strategy, with a particular focus on growing new earned revenue and corporate partnerships.  This professional must have an established background in coordinating nonprofit donation strategies and grant writing.  Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three – five years of fundraising development experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector and a passion for resourcing nonprofit organizations with transformational funding opportunities. Willingness to travel to Kenya to see programs in action. 

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and evaluating fundraising campaigns and activities.
  • Representing Light Up Hope locally at local events 
  • Managing the organization’s fundraising income programs.
  • Identifying and stewarding prospective donors/sponsors.
  • Staying on top of fundraising trends in the nonprofit community.
  • Maintaining relationships with existing donors/sponsors
  • Overseeing marketing campaigns. 
  • Managing donor/sponsor database such as sending out thank you letters. . 
  • Using prospect research tools to build donor/sponsor relationships.
  • Manage/execute grant cycle activities (proposals, reporting, etc.)
  • Identify and cultivate connections with people/companies passionate about helping Kenyan Orphans & Vulnerable Children, youths, young adults and their families to increase organizational capacity.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of best practices in nonprofit development activities
  • Self motivated and goal oriented with not a lot of oversight. 
  • Understanding of the role of Development in organization’s mission (grant writing, fundraising, marketing, P.R.).
  • Experience in social media marketing. 
  • Management or Leadership experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Organizational, time management and problem-solving skills needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent attention to detail. 
  • Familiar with sales and marketing strategies
  • Experience working internationally is a plus.
  • BS degree in nonprofit administration, business administration, communications or similar field
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience

We offer a base salary, $60k-$70k based on experience,  with the potential to earn a 10% bonus of your base pay. This is a fully remote position.  At this time we do not offer any medical or 401K benefits.  Please note we will accept applications from the United States however, priority will be given to those residing in the Denver metro area.
